Can I serve more than one domain name from my site ?

Yes, you can serve several domains and/or sub domains with each of our accounts. The number of domains you can host depends on the hosting plan you have. For example on our $9.95 plan you can host 5 completely separate domains. It is just like having 5 accounts in one. (e.g. $1.99 per domain per month)

Do you place advertising on my site ?

No, we do not place any form of advertising on your site.

Do you throttle the bandwidth of my website ?

No. Some web hosting companies limit the amount of data that your site can deliver in bursts or per second, making busy web sites slower. We do not do this, so sites have access to our full server and network resources. This means at peak times when many people are 'hitting' your site, loading times will remain fast.

So how fast is Hummingbird Hosting ?

One of the key features of our Hosting service is that our servers and network are very fast. Due to our multiple Gigabit connections, totaling over 5 Gigabit and the unthrottled bandwidth, our clients have access to a high response, high speed data transfer. No, Hummingbird Hosting has never had a price increase, even after several years of operation. We have, however increased our bandwidth limits on a number of our accounts for both pre-existing and new customers.

You certainly can. You get full access to your own CGI directory and can run your own Perl and PHP scripts on any of our plans.

Can I send email lists?

If you wish to send out an email list either through our servers, or through another server, that has links referencing to a site hosted on our servers, you must obtain prior permission from support@hummingbirdhosting.com.

Can I host my Adult website ?

No, we're sorry but we do not accept Adult content (pornography) on our servers under any circumstances, hosting such content is a violation of our Terms of Service.

Do I have access to MySQL ?

Yes, MySQL database access is provided along with the PhPMyAdmin web based interface. We allow up to 100 Megabytes per MySQL database.

Can I publish my Front Page website ?

Yes we have Front Page server extensions on all accounts, including support for Front Page 2002.

What is the control panel that I get access to ?

You get access to a full reseller control panel to create and manage your domains. From the control panel you may create and delete domains, create and delete POP3 email accounts, auto responders, group forwarding, manage disk space and bandwidth allocations, create MySQL databases and database users, protect directories, create guest ftp accounts and view graphics statistics. Using the control panel is a simple point and click process. Our support staff are always ready to help should you have any questions or problems.

How do I contact support ?

We offer 24/7 support via e-mail (support@hummingbirdhosting.com). Support requests are normally answered within the same day. Please ensure that you have supplied your account username and any other relevant information for the efficient processing of your support request.

Do you monitor your server 24 hours a day 7 days a week ?

Yes we certainly do. We monitor the all servers from 5 different location around the world. If a problem exists, our emergency support system is activated and staff are notified via email and pager within 5 minutes.

Why can't I ping or Trace Route to your servers?

For security purposes, our servers are firewalled and will not respond to a ping or Trace Route.

Are there any hidden costs ?

Absolutely not. All you will be charged is the cost of the hosting each month, unless you go over the monthly disk space or bandwidth limit for your account. Creating new domains and e-mail accounts is completely free of charge, even if you elect to have us do the setting up for you.

How do you calculate charges for excess bandwidth or disk space usage?

Bandwidth - For the first 5GB per month of overuse, there is no charge at all.

After 5GB's of overuse per month the charge is $2 per Gigabyte of excess data used.

We also offer the Bandwidth Booster option, which offers a block of 40GB of bandwidth per month for just $5 per month. Click here for more details.

It is also possible to upgrade to a different account at anytime without an upgrade fee. If you wish to upgrade, contact us and include your current account username and hosting plan for instructions on how to do this.

Charges for excess diskspace are calculated at $2.00 Per 100 Megabytes, calculated at the highest point of usage during the month.

How do I pay ?

We accept all major credit cards and visa debit cards, as well as payment via PayPal and automatically bill you each month for your web hosting. It is possible on request to make yearly rather than monthly payments (contact sales@hummingbirdhosting.com including the hosting plan you are interested in).

Can I upgrade my current Hosting Plan?

Yes, you can upgrade your Hosting Plan at any time for no extra charge. Email us at sales@hummingbirdhosting.com including your current account username and hosting plan for instructions on how to do this.

I am an existing customer. How do I update my Credit Card details?

Please email sales@hummingbirdhosting.com and include your account username and you will be sent an email containing a secure link for you to update your details.

What operating system do your servers run on ?

We run the Redhat Linux, or Redhat Enterprise, both stable, secure, industry standard operating systems. We use Apache web server software with Plesk, Ensim and Cpanel control panels.

Can I register a domain name with you ?

You can register a domain through us at a very competitive rate through our domain department here.

Do I need to transfer my domain name to your company ?

You do not need to transfer your domain registration to us. You will need to log into your current domain name registrar (if you already have a domain name) and change the name servers to our name servers. This is often called a delegation request or DNS change. If you are not sure how to setup and/or transfer your domain name, our support staff will be able to assist you. (Please refer to your "Welcome to Hummingbird Hosting" email for the network that your account resides on)

How do I cancel my hosting ?

If you want to cancel your account, please let us know by emailing sales@hummingbirdhosting.com and provide the name and address used on signup, your username, domain name and password. Once we receive your cancellation notice you will not be billed again and your web hosting account will expire on what would have been the next billing date. We do require that we be notified of the cancellation at least 7 days before the billing anniversary date, if possible sooner.
